About The Opal & West House

A Family Legacy of Hospitality and Heart

Since 2001, the Stevens family has been shaping hospitality in Shelby and Cleveland County — creating spaces that bring people together through great food, comfortable lodging, and meaningful experiences. From local cafés and event venues to boutique inns, our family has always shared a simple goal: to help people feel cared for and connected.

The Opal & West House, lovingly restored in 2024, is the newest chapter in that story. Led by Innkeeper Lynsie Stevens, whose warmth and personal care have earned overwhelming five-star reviews, and supported by Seth and Heather Stevens, whose decades of experience in hospitality and design ensure every detail feels intentional — our family continues to invest in the community we love.

Whether you’re here for business, a getaway, or to visit family, we hope you’ll experience the same spirit that guides everything we do — a belief that hospitality is one of the simplest ways to show love.

Over Two Decades of Local Excellence

From our first coffee shop in the early 2000s to the hundreds of weddings and getaways hosted since, our story has always been rooted in this community. We’ve built places where neighbors meet, friendships begin, and visitors discover what makes Shelby so special — warmth, authenticity, and genuine connection.

Our Philosophy

For us, hospitality is more than a business — it’s how we contribute to the wellbeing of others. Every guest who walks through our doors becomes part of a larger story of care, connection, and love for our town. We believe that when people feel seen and valued, good things happen — and we’re proud to make that happen one stay at a time.

From our family to yours, welcome to The Opal & West House — where comfort meets kindness and strangers often leave as friends.

Meet the Stevens Family

Lynsie Stevens

Innkeeper — the heart of The Opal & West House, known for her warmth, kindness, and exceptional breakfasts.

Seth Stevens

Entrepreneur — guiding vision and quality across all family hospitality ventures since 2001.

Heather Stevens

Opal and West Interior Design and founder of Feeding Kids Cleveland County — turning compassion into action through local impact.

Feeding Kids Cleveland County

Our passion for hospitality extends beyond our walls. In 2015, Heather Stevens, Inn owner, founded Feeding Kids Cleveland County — a nonprofit created to address extreme food insecurity among local children. What began as a grass roots effort has grown into a beloved local organization that feeds the whole person, not just their bellies, and brings hope to hundreds of kids and their families hope throughout the county.

Supporting Feeding Kids Cleveland County is one of the most meaningful ways we live out our family’s calling: to turn strangers into friends, and to use our time and talents to help meet the needs of others.
